Dryer Repair

LG dryer repair at home

Heat pump, condenser and vented dryers. If it runs but your clothes come out damp, or it stops halfway, there's usually a clear reason and we can track it down at your home.

We're an independent repair company, not LG Electronics or an LG-authorised centre. If your dryer is still under LG's manufacturer warranty, contact LG first.

Problems we fix

What usually goes wrong

These are the faults we see most on LG dryers, and what's normally behind them.

01

Clothes still damp

The number one dryer complaint. Blocked filters or condenser, a failed heater on vented models, or a heat pump that isn't working.

02

Stops mid-cycle

Often a safety cut-out from overheating because airflow is blocked. Can also be a sensor or door switch.

03

Drum not turning

You hear the motor but the drum doesn't move. The drive belt has probably snapped.

04

Squeaking or thumping

Worn drum rollers, a worn belt tensioner, or something caught between the drum and the door.

05

Water tank fills too fast or not at all

Condenser and heat pump models collect water. If the tank stays empty, the pump or hose may be blocked.

06

Takes forever

Long cycles are usually an airflow problem. Clean everything first. If it's still slow, a sensor may be misreading.

Three checks worth doing first

None of these need tools. If they sort it out, great. If not, you've ruled out the simple stuff and we can get to the real fault faster.

  • Clean the lint filter every loadSounds obvious, but a half-blocked filter doubles drying time. Wash it under the tap now and then, because softener leaves a film.
  • Clean the condenser or second filterHeat pump and condenser models have a second filter near the bottom. This is the one people forget, and the one behind most d80 to d95 codes.
  • Empty the water tankIf the tank's full, the dryer stops. On models with a drain hose, check the hose isn't kinked.
Repair or replace?

We'll tell you if it's not worth fixing

Not every repair makes sense. This is roughly how we think about it, but the age of your dryer and the price of the part always come into it.

Usually worth repairing

  • Belt, rollers or tensioner
  • Sensors and thermistors
  • Heater on vented models
  • Water pump on condenser models

Often not worth it

  • Heat pump sealed system leak on an older dryer
  • Drum damaged
  • Board failure on a basic, older model

Questions

Common questions

Anything else? Ask on WhatsApp.

Is a heat pump dryer supposed to be slower?

Yes. Heat pump dryers run cooler and take longer than vented ones, but they're gentler on clothes. If yours has got noticeably slower than it used to be, something's blocked.

My dryer smells of burning. What do I do?

Stop using it and unplug it. Lint build-up near the heater is a fire risk. Call us before using it again.

Can you fix a washer-dryer that washes but won't dry?

Yes. On combo machines the drying fault is usually a fan, heater or condenser water valve.

Is your LG dryer playing up?
