These are the faults we see most on LG fridges, and what's normally behind them.
The most common fridge call we get. Usually the defrost system has failed and ice has blocked the airflow from the freezer to the fridge.
Lights on, but nothing's cold. Could be the compressor, its start relay, the condenser fan, or on inverter models the control board.
A thick layer of frost inside the freezer means defrost isn't happening. It keeps growing until the fan jams.
Blocked defrost drain, a cracked water line on dispenser models, or a leaking ice maker.
A click every few minutes with no cooling often means the compressor is trying to start and failing. Rattling is usually a fan hitting ice.
Frozen water line, a faulty inlet valve, or the ice maker unit itself.
What the code on your display usually means, and the first thing to try. Codes can vary a little between models, so send us a photo if you're not sure.

None of these need tools. If they sort it out, great. If not, you've ruled out the simple stuff and we can get to the real fault faster.
Not every repair makes sense. This is roughly how we think about it, but the age of your fridge and the price of the part always come into it.
Emptying it and leaving it off with the doors open for a day will melt the ice and often gets it cooling again for a while. If it ices up again within a week or two, the defrost system needs fixing.
Yes, where a gas top-up actually solves the problem. If it's leaking, topping up only buys a few weeks, so we find the leak first.
Keep the doors shut. A closed fridge stays cold for a few hours and a full freezer for longer. Move medicines and fresh meat first.
